From the street, San Fran's balcony booms with promise; by the sounds of things, everyone up there is having the time of their lives. There's usually a door charge and tonight is no exception, but there's an immediate return on that investment as a psychedelic cocktail of magic and mayhem awaits at the top of the stairs. The decor is fabulous, the bar staff accomplished, the top shelf well-stocked and the music well up to the minute. This has got to be one of Wellington's hottest night-spots, even the glassie is grinning. A more feverish onslaught of good taste I'm yet to encounter. Pop over the road before 3am for a revitalising coffee at Midnight Espresso so you can dance until sunrise - in the words of SFB itself: "we is open when other bars is closed!"
